Life Insurance Check Ups

When you have a life insurance policy or when you obtain one, you may be required to submit to a checkup. This is determine what the risks are in taking or keeping you as a customer. An insurance company will not tell you that
they will not insure you as a general rule, they will however, provide you with a premium that meets your physical situation based on the risk assessments.

Risk assessments are data tables that insurance companies use to determine the chances of a person dying. They take into consideration your lifestyle, do you exercise, eat right, are you in good general health for your age, as well as family risk factors and then determine what your chances are, baring accidents, of living to a certain age.

This information is then used to determine how much they are going to charge you. Some insurance policies do not require a checkup they also have set premiums and are capped limiting the amount of insurance you can purchase. The insurance companies that require health checkups as part of their work up, yearly renewal, and application process, do not. They will allow you to purchase a policy of any size provided you pay the premium and pass the appropriate tests.

The checkup can be done by a doctor recommended by the insurance company, a nurse sent out to your home, or they can provide you with a form for your primary care physician to fill out when you have your yearly exam. It generally consists of a questionnaire and then a physical exam. In some cases, it may require more extensive testing such as blood work. The type of testing is outlined in the terms and conditions and should be examined before you agree to sign the policy. Remember that all insurance companies are looking for ways to receive maximum premium amounts without the least amount of pay out. Take the time to find an insurance company that will provide you with the terms and conditions, as well as the premium and insurance amounts you want.

Checkups are a necessary part of most life insurance policies. They are generally noninvasive and are over in just a few minutes. They are done yearly for older individuals but may be done every five years for younger people who are at less risk of age related conditions. Preexisting conditions may also require more frequent examinations.
